According to historians, contemporary Caribbean people generally came from three sources: indigenous Caribbean peoples, West Africans, and Europeans.
A central question of this study is: What are the African origins of English-speaking African-Caribbean peoples? Rather than using only historical and ethnographic information, this question was approached using genetics, more specifically anthropological genetics.
